Recent years, this buildIng was known as Pirates Inn. Pirates Inn was the bar on the ground floor. The upper two floors housed a hotel which opened in 1939 as the Katherine Hotel, named after the daughter of Dania pioneer Martin Frost. The Frosts were pioneers in Dania, with Tomato farm interests, and commercial development. The Hotel was a Flophouse in recent decades for downtrodden transients. Towards the end of the video are two photos of storefronts across the street at the South West Corner of the intersection of US1 and Dania Beach Boulevard. The Pirates Inn/Hotel Katherine property is on the North East corner. As you can see in the photos, demolition was approached from the North wall of the structure. The Bulldozers are carving out the middle of the structure, until the outer walls facing the streets become merely an empty shell.

The old Causeway Lumber lot was purchased by Holman Automotive and is planned to be the new home of Lauderdale BMW/ MINI Service department.
